     Stake Descriptions

Singles Pointing: One hunter, one dog, one 10 minute run, 3 pheasants and six shells per run. This division is open to anyone including professional handlers and their dogs. The dog must hold point for three seconds. Dog must deliver bird to hand.

Singles Flushing: One hunter, one dog, one 10 minute run, 3 pheasants and six shells per run. This division is open to anyone including professional handlers and their dogs. Dog must deliver bird to hand.

Non retrieving(Meat dog): One hunter, one dog, one 10 minute run, 3 Pheasants and six shells per run. This for dogs not in their first hunting season, but do not retrieve. This is designed for the meat dog that gets the bird but is not polished. The handler is responsible for getting the game, if the dog does not bring it back the handler must. Birds in the bag count in this stake. As like in any hunting situation game must be recovered.

Non shooter: one Handler, with our gunners, one 10 minute run, 3 Pheasants. This is designed for those who run in hunt tests or Navhda but do not hunt their dogs. Shells do not count in this stake. There will be the same two guns for all handlers. The dog must be under control and flush bird within gun range in order for flush to count. If the dog is pointer it must hold point for 3 seconds. Either handler or dog can flush bird. If guns miss the bird this will not be held against the dog. Dog and handler must present a reasonable shot for guns. Before you start you must tell state if you are flusher or pointer.  Dog must deliver bird to hand. This is designed for folks that normally do not hunt with their dogs, but would like to try or just give their dog a chance to hunt some birds. Dog must be used to gun fire and birds.

Doubles: Two hunters, 1 or 2 dogs, one 15 minute run, 5 pheasants and 10 shells per run. A hunter may enter up to six times per event as long as his or her team member changes every time. Dog must deliver bird to hand.

Puppy: One hunter, one puppy, one 10 minute run, 2 pheasants and 4 shells per run. This division is for dogs up to 10 months of age. You must establish whether the puppy will point or flush at time of entry. All pointing and flushing puppies will compete against each other. Puppies do not have to retrieve bird, handlers may do it. As like in any hunting situation game must be recovered.
