1) You have bought a crate. (Best 48 X 36 X 30) (OK 42 X 26 X 28)
2) You have bought and read the books I recommended:
How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With
Retriever Puppy Training : The Right Start for Hunting.
3) Decide where the puppy will stay during the day and during the night.
Puppy proof the rooms the puppy will be allowed in.
4) Make appointment with your Vet before taking puppy to your home for both our
protection. Also make the follow-up appointments for the next set of shots.
5) Bought 5 lb bag of Eukanuba Premium Performance Adult
Formula Dry Dog Food Adult. After a few days you can mix the Eukanuba and puppy
food you are going to use. I like IAM or purina puppy chow. Talk to vet see what he
likes.
6) What type of toys should I buy for my puppy.
Nylabone Pooch Pacifiers, Kong Ultra Dog Toy, Concord Sheepskin Ted
The puppies very often like to sleep with the Skeepskin toys.
7) I raise all my puppies on vitamin C a 1000MG a day. But don't start this until
you puppy is about 12 to 14 weeks. As this will cause loose stools at first. Also
I start my puppies on Glucosamine 500MG and Chondroitin 400MG. I take
this stuff myself and I have my Field Trial dogs on this for most of their lives as
they are like olympic athletes. The horse people have done this for years and
now many of the dog people are starting to do it. If you have questions ask your Vet.
I get my Glucsoamine at Costco the brand is called Pain Free. I buy it on sale as the
dogs and I all take the same thing.
8) After your puppy is 14 weeks old or had it last set of shots, find yourself a obedience
class. The best would be puppy class. It will be good for you and the dog.
9) Buy some bowls and a leash and collar. Don't leave the collar on the puppy in the
cage EVER!!!!IF you have done the following you should be ready to bring your puppy home. I hope all the info I have given on my web page makes it easy for you and your new puppy.
